Just off the coast of Hillsborough, the main town of Carriacou in Grenada, Sandy Island is a tiny, uninhabited islet of about 150 m long that boasts powdery white sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Fun Facts About Sandy Island

  • The island is such a picture-perfect Caribbean gem that it became the scenic backdrop for Bounty, the coconutty chocolate bar with a tropical vibe.

  • There are actually two Sandy Islands in this neck of the woods! One hangs out off the west coast of Carriacou and the other chills off the north coast of Grenada. This Carriacou one got a makeover from Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and now it's a fabulous nature reserve. The Grenada one, on the other hand, has a mysterious old ruin waiting for you to explore.

  • There is a lot of nothing on Sandy Island, so come prepared with your sunscreen, hats and chill gear.

  • But then this little strip of paradise also has everything...beautiful white sand to stroll on, coconut trees and shade for a hammock or a beach bbq, stunning clear water for snorkeling and floating around in, off your boat.

  • And the best - tranquility and silence to hear the breeze and soft waves.
